My journey – dying my hair unicorn colours | Read this before you dye your hair blue or green!

loreal colorista review followmeeshI love experimenting my hair with all sorts of color.

If you have been following me for a while you might remember I had pink and purple hair in 2016 when I was living in the UK. I even have taken my pre-wedding photos in pink hair!

When I relocated back to Hong Kong I had to loose the crazy color I had from the UK because I needed an office job. So I dyed it to brown and grey ombre after I came back to Hong Kong.

Because grey is not a permanent color as you may know, it won’t stay grey forever. So after about 3 to 4 months all the grey color at the end of my hair have faded to a very light blonde. So I decided to play with it on my own. I dyed the ends of my hair with a Korean bubble dye – Misen en scene hello bubble. I actually quite like it, it makes my skin appears whiter and brighter than it actually is.

And when the orange pink faded, I dyed it to indigo blue with L’oreal colorista.

At first, I was very happy with the result, because as you can see it came out quite nice and as blue as the box indicated. Outside the box of the L’oreal colorista, it says it fades gradually over 1-2 weeks but obviously it is not the case. After 3 to 4 weeks the indigo blue turned into a very animated blue green color which I don’t like.

And now it has been more than 8 weeks and the color hasn’t come off. This animated blue greenish color just stayed as it is. I started to panic and so I called my hair stylist, she told me that blue and green are very tricky, even if the box says it is wash-out or semi permanent it would still tint your hair permanently. She said what she can do it to bleach my hair again to see if she can fix it when I go see her next week.

She warned me not to try to DIY blue or green at home next time and sent me quite a scary photo. See the photo below. My stylist was trying to fix her hair color with bleach but the blue green still remains even the stylist bleached her hair, and she said it was not possible to get rid of those color for her case.

So, there you have it girls! Think twice before choosing to dye your hair blue or green, doesn’t matter if it says wash-out or semi-permanent! These two colors run the risk of being irreversible!
