The Ordinary serum range | Power serums that only cost you £6

When it comes to skincare, does a high price tag equals to higher effectiveness of the ingredients? Not always.

We all know about these hero ingredients. Hyaluronic acid for retaining moisture; Arbutin for whitening and hyperpigmentation; Niacinamide for acne and Peptides for anti-aging.

All these known and tested ingredients usually do not come cheap, and we associate them with a higher price tag. For brands that uses known and effective ingredients, like Peter Thomas Roth, or Skinceutical, etc, they are not cheap.  Little did we know that these raw ingredients are actually not something that’s expensive but most of us are over paying a lot to those brand names.

Deciem is the company behind The ordinary, they producce straight forward and clinically formulated products with hero ingredients.

Their very much seek after hand cream – Hand Chemistry Intense Youth Complex  (30ml £7.99) are constantly out of stock at Boots and they are just back in stock. The founder of the company, Brandon Truaxe said in an interview, “The Ordinary brings to market ingredients that are well known, well proven, but typically overpriced and disguised as “new” innovation,”, “There is nothing “luxurious” or “educated” about overpaying for commodity, no matter how effective that commodity is. Skincare is not like fragrance or fashion––it’s functional and it’s not about telling stories.”

I love just how practical these serums are! I can’t wait to try them!

With ingredients proven to work and active ingredients housed in a glass dropper bottle, you might think that the price point would be somewhat similar to Skinceuticals or other dermatologist skin care line. Well, I didn’t believe it at first, but the cheapest serum is only costing about £5, with the most expensive one only at £12. I couldn’t resist but ordered a few already. I will make sure that I write a review on them later on!

One of the reasons these serums can be at such low price is because each serum only contains one or two hero ingredients that are proven to work.

The founder Truaxe reveals, “The majority of the cost is actually in compounding, testing, filling, logistics and retailer margins and we still come to under $5 with our margin included.”

Indeed this product, with so much promising ingredient only retail here at £5 is a little bit too good to be true but hey here it is.

The proven anti-aging ingredient Retinol is commonly used in anti-aging creams and serums, but products on the market are only 1% in most products. Now, The ordinary does it with 2% which is a really high dosage, and guess what it only cost you £8! Can you believe it?

I am super excited about this brand and can’t wait to receive my delivery so that I can try it and let you girls know how it goes!
