I was so excited when I know my boyfriend booked the Muji hotel to surprise me for the weekend! I have been a fan of MUJI for years and MUJI Hotel was always on my list of places to go!
The one we visited is Muji Hotel Shenzhen. It only took us around 1 hour to get to Shenzhen from Hong Kong.
As soon as I stepped in the hotel, I felt so “Muji” already. Wooden panels and furniture everywhere with lots of natural lights. I already feeling so relaxed while I was waiting for my boyfriend to do the check in for us.
The corridor is also very nice and quiet, which I like. It was not noisy at all, unlike a lot of hotels in China where people talk very loudly. The vibe is so zen and peaceful that I can have a walking meditation in the corridor!
This is the waiting area for you to wait for your friends or family from other rooms. The set up has such a Japanese style of zen-ness.
The minimalist vibe continues in the room, we went for a Type B room which is already very spacious for us. It is not only spacious but with a lot of natural lights and a small balcony.
I love the desk area it is simple with just a wooden long table and chair but it is where you get all the natural lights so it is great for writing or reading.
All the teas and coffees here are complimentary. I love their minimal looking kettle. I wish I can take it home!
There is nothing I don’t love here basically, because I am a fan of Muji. I can tell even the beddings are Muji because I also use Muji beddings at home.
I quite like the CD player it plays typical music that we normally here in a Muji store, the music reminds me of forest and animals and I love how it looks so chic on the wall.
The bathroom is very nice as well. Everything looks very clean and there is a vanity bag beside the basin that contains toothbrush, toothpaste etc. You can also take the whole bag home. In fact, there is a page in the booklet on the table that tells you what you can take home with you. I remember it is the vanity bag, slippers and the Muji gel pen.
Everything is just so neat here! I am a messy person and I always make my room very messy so this Muji room gave me so much peace!
One thing to remember though, the area is quite new so not every taxi driver know how to get there. On google map the route ends before the bridge, but in fact you have to drive up the bridge to get to the entrance of the hotel.
Also because the area is not near Metro at all, you need to be prepare to taxi in and out at all times, there is no public transportation near the hotel. Good thing is, taxi is inexpensive in the area. So the cost is still acceptable.
One thing that I was not happy thought is their service. Breakfast at the Muji cafe was included in the room price. However, the experience was very disappointing. Click here to read about the Muji cafe experience.
